Goober: Yellow Nape Amazon

Picture
Goober is our Amazon parrot. He is officially known as a Yellow Nape Amazon because of the yellow spot on the back of his neck and thumbprint of yellow on his forehead. He is a close cousin to the Double Yellow Head Amazon and Blue Front Amazon.

There are many, many species of Amazon but the three listed above of which Goober is one, are the best known talkers as well as being members of the HOT THREE. This means they are also the most tempermental of the Amazons and Goober lives up to all of it. He will hold a conversation with you all day long but he can be quite a pistol to handle. He prefers men over women and adores my son and husband. He'd like to tear me to shreds even though I'm the one that feeds him, cleans his cage, and makes sure he has toys etc... It's fine though. He's so much fun to have around and will never cease to make you laugh including laughing along with you with his infections hahahahaha. He also loves to 'help' my husband do his paperwork, as you can see from the picture.

If you talk to long, however, you will be met with a "blah blah blah blah."

Goober loves to play and will spend hours hanging upside down from various toys. When he's through he enjoys a good scritch from son or hubby (just not me).

And he loves to take a bath in his water dish.

When it's time to eat nobody's dish is safe. He's a real slob too.

Then after a long day of eating and playing it's time to relax on the couch with Bobby.
